Star Delta
Star delta starters are another device that may be used to reduce current demand during motor startup. It is often used for starting three-phase induction motors, but can only be used when starting the motor without load and when the required starting current is relatively low.
A star delta starter reduces the starting current of three-phase induction motors by initially connecting the windings in a star configuration, then switching to a delta configuration.
It starts the motor in a star configuration to reduce voltage and current, then switches to a delta configuration for full voltage operation.
